Real Nurseries – Holden’s Elephant Parade

Monday, July 5th, 2010

When Nikki Perisi was pregnant with her 3rd child, Holden. She set about decorating for unborn son. I love the greys with white trim and the grey brindle cow hide rug. Designer pieces of nursery furniture from oeuf & the eames rocker and elephant compliment each other beautifully. Holden will be able to enjoy this space with minimal changes for his entire childhood. Want to get this look?

Going Gaga Over – Ubabub

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

Who said one must compromise style for practicality? Natasha & Daniel Dumais certainly didn’t when they designed Australia’s newest nursery furniture brand Ubabub. Ticking all of the boxes stylish, practical, safe, durable, ecologically friendly and did I mention stylish? With a distinctly modern aesthetic, the carefully designed and constructed pieces not only add a streamlined modern edge to the nursery but also bring extra comfort and freedom to parents and babies. Both the Pod and Nifty grow with your child from a cot to toddler bed with the addition of a bed kit, which means you get a good 5 years use, and that’s just for one baby.

Ubabab is available for pre-order at Bebe, due in store later this month

Real Nurseries – Paige’s Turquoise Paradise.

Friday, June 4th, 2010

Little did Megan know when she designed her unborn daughters nursery that turquoise would become pantone’s colour of the for 2010. Being a graphic designer from Massachusetts, Megan had a 3D canvas to work with instead of her regular 2 dimensions in stationery design. I love the turquoise walls with white trim and sunny yellow accents with the addition the natural fibres of timber floor, seagrass, timber and woven grass baskets. Megan has managed to create a space that soothes, but is also bright and fun. A place I don’t think that I could get enough of. Thank you Megan for sharing your nursery with Mini Gaga.

Project Nursery – Pink Vintage

Saturday, May 15th, 2010

You may be thinking this is bedroom is OTT (over the top) pink. Well you’d be mistaken. Remove the armoire and chair and all you are left with is pink linen. The bright whites in this room project the pink from the furniture. This room could grow with your daughter from infant to teenager without being too old or young for her with the right accessories.  Recreate this look at home be diffusing the natural light with sheer floaty curtains (these ones from ikea are $30), gloss white painted floorboards and powder coated cast iron bed.  The armoire is harder to find, try Vintage Glamour, single door french style starting at $1500 paint in Haymes Pelargonium or Berries as with the timber chair.

Create your own newborn display board using scrapbooking supplies, photos and keepsakes from birth like hospital tags and first nappy pins. Lauriann from Little Starling Photography is the US, was kind enough to allow us to not only share her nursery with you, but also the newborn display boards she made for her own children and family members.
